Goldwave Practical 3

in this lab i will be learning to mix and edit sounds to make a peice of music using goldwave

In the Original jingle mix i can hear 7 different things, these are:
a funk guitar
a punchy bass line
a drum set
a organ
voices in harmony
a announcer voice telling you about the product
and a piano

however there is actually 8 different instruments and vocals in the original mix

CEPVoices

The singers in the 'CEPVoices' file are in Harmony that create a very smooth sounding piece for the jingle because you can hear it clearly over the rest of the instruments. but as the piece goes on you can hear a slight bit of distortion as the voices fade out.

DloopandAnnouncer

Although you cant hear the Dloop in this file very clearly it does give the jingle a punchy feel where as the announcer can be clearly heard over the rest of the instruments near the end of the file as the other parts are getting faded out which gives the whole thing a jazzy / cool feel.

DopeOrgan

If you list very closely the organ can be heard after a few seconds and last for the majority of the track which adds a funky feel to the backing track. if you listen to it on its own you can hear that each note is short and spiky.

Drums1

The drums can be clearly hear in the original mix these file provides a very steady backing track for the whole track. At the end of the track as the other instruments are faded out you can hear a gong or cymbal which must symbolise the finale to the jingle.

FunkGuitar

The funk guitar is one of my favourite parts of the jingle with the small reapting spiky funk riffs gives the jingle a funk feel. Also the vibrato at the end of the guitar part ands a smooth relaxed funk feel to the end of the spiky riff. This part can be heard pretty clearly over the rest of the instrumments.

Rickenbacker Bass Guitar

The Rickenbacker Bass line is my other favourite part of the original mix, the pace of the bass line is so relaxed back it makes it feel very jazzy and cool. the palm mutes in the middle of each bass riffs give it the relaxed and punchy pace and cool flavour that was mentioned before. The bart at the end of the file where the musician plays the two notes that are a octave apart round of the bass line so well and make it harmonise with the singers. It can also be heard in the background if you listen closely.

SweepBass

The sweep bass line can also be heard in the background if you listen closely like the Rickenbacker bass line. The bass line is very funky which gives it a smooth sound which adds to the funky tone. the vibrato near the end of the file gives it a very 'far out' sound which adds to the funky tone of the whole piece.

TimpAndPiano

The timpany and the piano can be heard in the original but you must listen closely as it is very faint. This file starts off the beat to the whole final track and the use of question and answer with the timp and piano adds a funky tone to the original track.
